David Cuts David's Hair

This is what David's hair looks like after he decided to cut it with his new craft scissors this morning while I was printing out a crocodile template for him cut with said scissors. He seemed very happy about it, so it was really hard to get mad at him. I have, however, taken away his scissor usage for the time being. If I'm lying, I'm dying, ya'll...he was standing right behind my computer chair just chopping away!

Miss Hope Cuts David's Hair

This is what David's hair looked like after Miss Hope cut it last Saturday.

C is For...

It occurred to me that if I was going to be at home with David all summer we should be doing something educational and fun. Each day we have been learning about a new letter and making things that begin with that letter. Today David learned about the letter C. These are all his art projects. He could be the next Da Vinci (But probably more like Van Gogh, since he's now cutting off things that actually belong on his body)!

Leslie's Birthday Cupcakes

I made a bunch of snacks to take to Leslie's house for her birthday party last Tuesday. David decided that she couldn't have a birthday without cupcakes, so we whipped up some chocolate on chocolate ones with tons of sprinkles. David licked the beaters and, though he says he was trying to be careful, ended up with most of the batter on his face and clothes!

Hello Old Friend

I know it's been a while since I posted on the blog. Ok, it's been over six months. But I promise I'm going to update it more this summer. One more year of school and hopefully I'll be free to blog til my heart's content.

Water Valley Home Burns

I was in the office this afternoon studying when I heard a strange popping noise. It sounded like there was something rolling around in the dryer and I knew the dryer wasn't on (why would I do laundry when I can read Beowulf?), so I went to investigate. From the laundry room window I could see a huge cloud of smoke coming from the street behind our house. As I looked closer, I could see huge flames through our bamboo forest. Since being nosy runs in my family (don't ya'll be offended, you know it's true), I jumped in the car to check it out. The house across the street from the house directly behind us was in flames. I got a couple of pictures with my cell phone camera, but by the time I got there, the blaze was mostly under control. I did, however, see the guy from our local paper on the scene with his camera, so I'll give you all the details on Thursday when the paper comes out.
