Back in Business

So, while I was at El Charrito on Friday night drowning my robbery sorrows in frozen margaritas, Stuart(ever the good husband) was at the computer shopping for a NEW camera for me. It's an upgrade from the one that I had and he even ordered me a HUGE memory card (which will come in handy for those away from home trips now that I don't have a bloody laptop anymore)!

I haven't heard from the cops since they were here taking the report. They said there had been one burglary a day for the past two weeks, all in broad daylight. The kids we suspect haven't been seen since the cops went to question them Friday evening. They're probably in their house surfing the net, playing video games, and making youtube videos with all my stuff. I wouldn't come outside, either.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted on the case and what's happening, and rest assured, THIS camera will be going EVERYWHERE with me!

Now, without further ado....more pictures of the wonder child.

After helping Daddy work in the backyard this evening it was time to come in for a bath. He sort of protested at first, then found his little squeezy fish that Grandma O. gave him and started making them kiss...he quickly forgot that he didn't want to be in the tub.

Father's Day

The whole Seaman clan went to play golf at Kirkwood National on Sunday. While Tony and Stu played golf, Bev, David and I rode around in a cart and watched. David played with his golf clubs and played on the bridges as we drove past them. There were lots of shady spots where we could sit and watch the boys swing their sticks. We had lunch in the clubhouse at the turn and then went back out for the last nine holes. We were all worn out by the time we got to 18, and by then it was bloody hot out there. That ride home in the air conditioning was wonderful! We had an amazing Father's Day!

The New Retaining Wall

The old retaining wall in our backyard is falling apart. Previous owners tried to fix it, but it was terrible. Stu, Tony, and (of course) David have been working on it for the past couple of weeks. It's looking amazing. Be sure to check out the last picture. I have been playing "supervisor" on this project. Notice the book and bottle of nail polish next to the comfy chair...I'm doing an excellent job of keeping those men working!

Volta Girls "Sex" party

Get your mind out of the gutter. The Volta girls had a little get together to go see the new "Sex and the City" movie. After the movie we went to Yocona River Inn for dinner. I had a tomato and chevre tart and a filet with a soy-sake glaze and wasabi butter. It was one of the best dinners I've had in a long time! I guess that makes up for the fact that I didn't think the movie was all that spectacular.

My New Herb Garden

Stuart, David and I went to the Farmer's Market three weeks ago just to see what all was there. I found some lemon-thyme, sage, and rosemary plants. When we got home, Stuart and David cleared out this little garden area by the carport so I would have my own little herb garden. While they were digging, they found the biggest worm I have ever seen in my life. I would try to TELL you how big it is...but I'll just show you instead.

Memorial Day Camping Trip

Stuart's parents invited us to go camping with them and their friends Robin and Denny on Memorial Day weekend at Grenada Lake. Since I had to work on Friday and Saturday, we drove the twenty minutes on Sunday to join them. We took David to the swimming area at the lake and he and Stuart had a fabulous time playing in the water. ( I don't do lake water. I think it's disgusting and I can't handle all that stuff between my toes or the thought of what exactly other people are putting into that water. My OCD can't handle it.) David LOVES being in and around the water, so he had a great playing with Daddy. When we got back from swimming (and I had a shower just because I was NEAR the icky water) we lounged around the campsite a while. David played with his toys, namely an OLD SCHOOL Fisher Price camper set and a newer camper that Bev got for him, while I read and Stuart "rested his eyes". We made some dinner and then Tony pulled out the guitar for a little music by the campfire. He sang some Old MacDonald for David, and a few other folky songs for the grownups. We really enjoyed the time we spent there. I didn't really want to go home. It was so relaxing. We tried to give David a haircut while we were there, but he was having NO part of it. He was jerking around and crying and putting up a HUGE fight, so we gave up. His hair was so chopped up and there were chunks missing in places it shouldn't be missing, so I came home and we shaved his head. He looks like a total boy now. The baby face has disappeared.
I should comment on the picture of David with the little stuffed dog. The dog's name is Jack. People keep telling Bev that she needs a dog. Bev does not like dogs...at all...for any reason. So, she went out and bought Jack. He snores when he is sleeping, he will growl like he's playing when you pull on the little toy rope in his mouth, and he barks. David LOVES this dog. He talks to Jack, makes sure that Jack sees the boats on the water, and those that are riding behind campers and trucks. He LOVES Jack like he has NEVER loved Cocoa. He chases poor Cocoa around the house with plastic hangers, his bat, his golf club, and pretty much anything else that is big and threatening...but he LOVES Jack. And it's SO sweet to watch him play with Jack.

Get Ready for Some Serious Blogging.

I know that you all have been saying, "That Beth has been slacking on her blog posts." To those of you who HAVE been saying this, let me just tell you that we have been very busy playing this summer. I'm enjoying spending lots of time with Stuart and David and we've been doing lots of interesting things (don't worry, I've been documenting these occurences with TONS of pictures. The next few blog entries should get you up to date on the time the Seamans have been spending together. Get ready to "Ooh" and "Ahh" over the wonder child.

Summer Fun in Tammy's Back Yard

Tammy has suggested that I put this in my blog for those of you who do NOT have children yet in an attempt to persuade you to NEVER have them. She sent this to me in email today. It's a short story about something that her three year old did...I have to say that I never thought as I was reading it that the story was going to end this way, but it's hysterical in a("KRF, you will never believe what YOUR child did today" sort of way.)

Here's the email, names have been changed to protect the innocent...
Let me tell you a story … Yesterday, I met with my accountability partner S, and since it’s summer we met here at my house where there’s PLENTY of entertainment for the kids. I had been gone scrapbooking all weekend and didn’t get home until very late Sunday night, so Monday morning was the first time Will, my VERY attached 3 year old, had seen me in three days. He was SO excited to see me after so long and wanted MORE attention than usual. “Usual” is 100% of my attention, 100% of the time, so you can IMAGINE how bad “more than usual” was – he was laying all over me all the time, kept taking his hand and turning my face towards HIM so I would be forced to look at and listen to and talk to HIM … it was just SO obnoxious! But since I had been gone all weekend and he was just seeing me for the first time that morning, I cut him a LOT of slack and gave him a LOT of grace. Finally, though, S and I moved outside to the patio in hopes of giving Will some distractions – his FAVORITE place is outside, and his FAVORITE outside activity is to play with the water hose. Ours is cool because it has a big round nozzle on it with a bunch of different settings, so he can mist it (“soft” water, he says) and jet it (hard, fast, and painful) and rain shower it to water all the plants … point being, he can usually entertain himself for a VERY long time with the water hose. And it worked FINE, for about 10 minutes … and then Will just couldn’t stand it anymore … just couldn’t take me not giving him my FULL attention … and he took the water hose … and he turned it to jet … hard, fast, and painful … and yes he did … yes he did … he shot S right in the face with it. Oh … my … gosh …

First Taste of Watermelon

A few weeks ago, Stu bought a watermelon to chop up and take to work for snacking. While he was slicing and dicing we tried to get David to eat it. He wouldn't get near it at first, but we told him that it was candy and he decided that he would have a bite (hey, whatever, we're liars...he ate it and it's good for him...whatever). He really liked it. It was fun watching him eat the melon and remembering when I was little, sitting outside with a paper plate full of yummy goodness, juice dripping down my face, and seeing who could spit the seeds the farthest.

David's Trip to the Airport

I don't think anyone has ever seen these pictures. Tony and Beverly have a friend who works at the University airport. They took David one Saturday morning last October to check it all out. I'm sure you can guess that he thoroughly enjoyed himself.

Picnic at the Lake

Stuart and I took David to Enid Lake to play. David and I played on the playground while Stu made hot dogs on the grill, then we ate and went down to the beach to go swimming. David had a great time! He was wading in the lake out to his waist to dump shovels-ful of sand into the water. On the way home we stopped at Baskin Robbins to get some ice cream. David was sitting in his seat, shoveling in his scoop of vanilla as fast as he could get the spoon to his mouth. Instead of saying "I don't want any more," he handed me his cup and said, "I don't like ice cream." Stuart and I laughed so hard we thought we would cry!
